Mystery woman with Olympic contingent revealed

London, Jul 29: The unidentified woman clad in red and blue marching with the Indian contingent at the London Olympics opening ceremony on July 27 was found to be Madhura Honey, a post-graduate student from Bangalore. There were speculations all around after media focussed on her, even raising questions over the security standards.



Media reports said one of Madhura's friend was baffled after seeing her marching with the Indian contingent. Madhura has been living in London and had also displayed her Olympic passes on her Facebook account, it is learnt. She was selected for a cultural fest at the Games, sources said. India's acting Chef De Mission Brig P K Muralidharan Raja was clearly upset with the incident. He said the unknown woman could not just walk in and hog the limelight with the national sport stars. Terming the incident to be shameful, Brig Raja said thay would take up the matter with the Olympic organisers.

He added that the team was initially informed that the woman would accompany it till the track but she went on to finish the entire lap. "There was another person but he did not enter the stadium," the acting Chef De Mission said.
