Guwahati molestation: Amitabh Bachchan slams media
Questioning the media person's presence along with his TV camera at the time when the mob harassed the girl, Mr Bachchan hurled few questions towards the media.
While writing in his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com, Mr Bachchan asked, "In incidents such as this, how is it that a TV camera crew comes to know beforehand of a molestation to be taking place - so they could record it as content for the channel they work for."
"This, if proved as per the police investigation, could mean that the TV crew colluded in the crime and then face consequences," added Big B.
Mr Bachchan scrutinised each and every acts of media regarding the same incident where a teen girl was molested by a mob of more than 50 men in public outside a pub in Guwahati. The incident was captured by Gaurav Jyoti Neog who was a reporter with a regional TV channel News Live.
The reporter and later the editor of the channel, Atanu Bhuyan resigned as the channel had faced a lot of flak for deciding to air the shocking visuals that exposed the faces of the perpetrators of the ugly crime.
However, it seems that Mr Bachchan was not convinced citing the TV channel's action to shield its reporter and other crew. Continuing to bash the media, Big B said, "Pro-media comment defends itself by stating that the media's job is to inform and that handling a mob may be the prerogative of a hero in film, but not the reporter! Giving excuse that the recording assisted in identifying the culprits, sounds lame."
"This is a most unfortunate happening for the electronic media if proved in court. It would be a lesson for many to perhaps build greater honesty and integrity, than do it as an exercise because your own channel content is not sufficient enough for you to maintain position and TRPs!" added the superstar leaving several questions which are yet to be answered.
