The 31-year-old striker, who was signed from Tottenham Hotspurs for a record £30 million back in 2008, has slammed the club over their asking price. United were not willing to accept any offers below £10 million, however, Berbatov has now claimed that Ferguson is willing to sell him for £5m.
Berbatov's career at United as been full of highs and lows, despite making a record move from White Hart Lane, the Bulgarian striker had been left out for majority of the last season.
Manchester United extended his stay at Old Trafford by 12 months to prevent him from leaving as a free agent at the end of the season. However, despite his exit talks, Berbatov is due to fly to South Africa with the rest of the squad on a pre-season tour.
"The truth is I love this club, but I am not going to be useful to anyone if I am not playing," Berbatov wrote on his official Facebook page.
"Because I am tired of speculation, I am telling you this," he added.
"I read the papers and I see they say £10 million is my price. I go and talk with Sir Alex and he says to me £5m. So who is telling the truth, what do you think? And the truth is, I love this club, but I am not going to be useful to anyone, if I am not playing."
"And I want to play, I want to help. But for unknown reasons it's not going to happen, or my chances will be limited, so it's better for everyone if we say goodbye," Berbatov said.
Berbatov's agent Emile Danchev is hoping United will be flexible over the strikers asking price while he said the 31-year-old is eager to play regular football and also in the Champions League next season, either in England or any club in Europe.
With the likes of Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, Berbatov was not favoured by Ferguson as he made just five Premier League starts scoring seven goals with a total of 12 League appearances.
