Bangalore, Jul 14: Here is the current weather scenario in the country in general and Karnataka in particular.

India as on Jul 14:

Rainfall (till 8.30 am on Jul 14):
Rainfall has occurred in most places in UP, the western coast, the Andamans, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura; at many places in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, eastern MP, Gujarat Region, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Andhra, Tamil Nadu, at a few place in northwestern and eastern Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, western MP, Saurashtra and Kutch and in one or two places in interior Karnataka. In other parts of the country, the weather remained mainly dry.

Most rainfall:
Cherrapunji received 13 cm, Dehradun 9 cm, Yercaud and Haflong 8 cm, Cuddalore, Pilani and Behraich 6 cm, Jamshedpur, Ganganagar and Agartala 5 cm, Nellore, Meerut, Santiniketan, Berhampore, Agartala, Ganganagar, Uluberia, Car Nicobar, Passighat 4 cm, Jalpaiguri, Puducherry, Chennai, Bangalore AP, Gorakhpur, Tiruchirapalli, Amritsar, Jhansi, Kukernag, Itanagar, Salem and others 3 cm.

Weather forecast up to 8.30 am on Jul 17:
1. Rain/thundershowers would occur at most places in eastern UP, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, northeastern states and the Andamans, at many places in west coast, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Vidarbha, eastern MP and Lakshadweep, at some places in Punjab, Haryana & Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Gujarat region, western MP, Andhra and Tamil Nadu.
2. Very heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Bihar, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in the next 48 hours.
3. Heavy rainfall would occur at a few place in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, eastern UP and the Andamans in the next 24 hours.

Karnataka weather:
Monsoon is yet weak over Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at most places in coastal Karnataka; at a few places in South Interior Karnataka and at pockets in North Interior Karnataka.

Bangarpet (Kolar district) 8 cm.
Karwar 7 cm.
Manki (Uttara Kannada), Hoskote (Bangalore Rural) 6 cm.
Bimalkhed (Bidar) 5 cm.
Mangalore , Belthangady (Dakshina Kannada), Ankola (Uttara Kannada dt) 4 cm.
Udupi, Gokarna, Bangalore HAL AP, Manchikeri (Uttara Kannada), Huliyurdurga (Tumkur) 3 cm.
Honavar, Kadra (Uttara Kannada), Gurumitkal (Yadgir), Bhalki (Bidar), Mulbagal (Kolar), Chikkaballapur 2 cm.

Forecast till Jul 16 morning:
Rain/thundershowers would occur at most places in coastal Karnataka and at a few places in Interior Karnataka. Heavy rain is expected in coastal Karnataka in the next 48 hours.
