US Olympic team to wear made-in-China uniforms at London

London Olympics
Washington, Jul 14: The United States House of Representatives is unhappy because the nation's Olympic athletes will be wearing made-in-China blazers, berets and pants at the London Games, the Associated Press has reported.

Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, told newspersons that she is proud of the US Olympians but in her opinion "they should be wearing uniforms that are made in America."

According to members of the US Congress, the US Olympic Committee should not have allowed Ralph Lauren to design the team's attire at a time when many workers in the country's textile industry are still jobless.

"I am so upset. I think the Olympic committee should be ashamed of themselves. I think they should be embarrassed. I think they should take all the uniforms, put them in a big pile and burn them and start all over again," Senator Harry Reid stressed.

Responding to the criticism, the US Olympic Committee asserted that they have done nothing wrong. "Unlike most Olympic teams around the world, the US Olympic team is privately funded and we're grateful for the support of our sponsors," USOC spokesman Patrick Sandusky stated.

"We're proud of our partnership with Ralph Lauren, an iconic American company," he added.
