Jagadish Shettar sworn in as Karnataka CM
The gala event at the Raj Bhavan was attended by Yeddyurappa and Sadananda Gowda along with other MLAs and MPs.
The matter regarding who will be the state BJP President has not been decided yet and is likely to be announced later. According to reports, the changes in the government and the party will take place on the LKG (Lingayat-Kuruba-Gowda) formula. Under this formula, with Shettar elevated to the CM post who is from the Lingayat community, Eshwarappa who has been made the Deputy CM from the Kuruba community and Ashok from the Vokkaliga community, the caste connotations have been taken care of in the state with the party able to satisfy the different vote banks.
Among the other changes in the Shettar government will be the sheer size of the Cabinet that will have 31 members. The outgoing Gowda government had only 23 members including the CM. With as many as 22 members from the previous government finding place in the present Cabinet, the new entrants are BJ Puttaswamy, CT Ravi, Jeevaraj, Sogadu Shivanna, Kalakappa Bandi, Srinivas Shetty, Anand Singh, SK Bellubbi and Aravinda Limbavali.
