Wrestler turned actor Dara Singh passes away
He was hospitalised at the Kokilaben hospital for the last four days but was discharged on Wednesday after the doctors claimed that he had significant brain damage and there was not much they could do on his failing health condition. He was admitted after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest last week. After he was discharged on Wednesday, he was taken to his residence.
He was last seen in the 2007 blockbuster movie Jab We Met and the most notable character in his acting career was the role he essayed as Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana series aired on television. Born on Nov 19, 1928 at Dharmoochak village in Amritsar, Singh earned a name as a professional wrestler and was also a Commonwealth wrestling champion. He was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha by Bharatiya Janata Party during Aug 2003 - Aug 2009.
