Chelsea sign Brazilian wonderkid Oscar for £25m

London, Jul 10: Chelsea have successfully signed Brazilian wizkid Oscar for a fee worth £25 million from Internacional.

Chelsea owner Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich's latest spending spree as seen the signing of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin both worth £42 million. The young Brazilian playmaker is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Brazil.

Former Chelsea manager, Andre Villas-Boas, who was recently appointed as the new Tottenham Hotspurs manager, had also submitted a bid for the 20-year old playmaker.

Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junior, the 20-year old Brazilian, who has scored 19 goals in 70 games for Internacional, shot to fame when he became the first player to score a hat-trick in the FIFA Under 20 World Cup final, beating Portugal 3-2.

The playmaker, who usually plays a role behind the main striker, is also comfortable on the either flanks or in the midfield. He is described as a 'typically brilliant Brazilian No 10'.

The recent signings of young talent has put pressure on Juan Mata, a key and influencial player in Chelsea's Champions League triumph last season. While the Stamford Bridge faithful will get an early opportunity to see Brazilian wonderkid as he is also a member of his country's Olympic squad.

Chelsea have been criticised for the way they won the Champions League with a defensive style. But Abramovich's recent acquisitions are turning the club into an all-out attacking team with pace and fluidity.

However, the Russian tycoon is ready to splash the cash for another Brazilian star Hulk. The 25-year old Porto striker has been to the club ever since Andre Villas-Boas took over as manager at the start of the last season.
