The class 5 student was made to drink her own urine because she wet her bed.
A police complaint against the warden of the girl's hostel was launched by the parents of the girl.
"The guilty must be punished. My daughter will never recover from this incident," said the girl's mother.
"If it is true, it is the warden who should be punished. Corporal punishment has been banned in West Bengal state across the country," said Vinod Kumar Tikoo, NCPCR member.
The university officials, however, rubbished all the allegations and claimed that the child was sick.
A four member fact-finding committee has been appointed to look into the matter, said a university official on Sunday.
"We have received a complaint that a class 5 residential student of the Patha Bhavan was allegedly made to drink her urine as a punishment. A four member fact finding committee headed by former dean of students welfare, Aruna Mukherjee has been set up to look into the matter and submit its report to the vice chancellor of the University," said a university spokesman.
The incident took place on Saturday evening when Uma Poddar, warden of Karabi hostel, found Punita guilty of bed-wetting. She asked the girl to drink her own urine as a punishment for wetting her bed.
