Laila Khan murder: Starlet's stepfather arrested in B'lore

Bangalore, Jul 6: Stepfather of Pakistani actress Laila Khan, who along with her family was allegedly killed in Mumbai, was arrested in Bangalore on Friday, claimed the Jammu and Kashmir police.

Laila's mother married Asif Sheikh after her divorce with her first husband.

Asif Sheikh will be interrogated to see if Laila and her family were killed in Mumbai as revealed by Pervez Tak, said reports.

"The police are looking at the possibility of Laila Khan and her family members being killed in Mumbai. The police are likely to visit Mumbai for further investigation in the case," said Garib Das, DIG Doda Ramban range.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir police confirmed the news that the Pakistani starlet along with her family was killed in Mumbai last year after following the revelation by Pervez Tak, who was taken into the police custody in connection with the case.

Tak revealed that the actress was possibly killed for her dubious links with the underworld.

Laila Khan and her family were last seen at a shop in Kishtwar town in May 29. The J&K police also recovered an abandoned car from a lake in Srinagar in which the family was travelling. Reports reveal that the vehicle was registered in the name of the Laila Khan's mother Saleena Patel, a Pakistani actress.

According to Tak's confession, Laila had married a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. With her underworld links hogging the limelight, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has been on the lookout for the star and her family.

Later a complaint was lodged with the Mumbai police by Laila Khan's father, Nadir Shah Patel, who alleged that his daughter along with her mother Saleena Patel, her sister Azmina Patel, her stepfather Asif Sheikh and their family friend Pervez Iqbal Tak went missing after they left for Kashmir to attend a wedding.
