Congress to observe YSR's birth anniversary?

YS Rajasekhara Reddy
Hyderabad, Jul 6: With the birth anniversary of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on Jul 8, the ruling Congress is in a dilemma over the celebrations, keeping in mind the party's defeat at the hands of YSR Congress in the recent bypolls.

According to reports, the YSR Congress is, however, planning events in all constituencies and will highlight the contribution of the late YSR in the agricultural sector.

Earlier in 2010, YSR Congress leader and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, on the first birth anniversary of his father, had continued with his Odarpu yatra. In 2011 on this day, Jagan conducted the party's first plenary session.

"We are also increasingly under pressure from anti-YSR groups in the Congress not only to disown YSR but also to portray him in poor light in terms of corruption and irregularities," said a State Congress leader.

Sources reveal that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has also not given his intimation on marking his birth anniversary as a state function. The same has also not been confirmed by Congress legislator Party and Gandhi Bhavan.
