Lucknow, Jul 4: Congress would not come back to power at the Centre as people were fed up with it, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said. The SP chief said regional parties would register victories in the states and play role in national politics.

"People are fed up with the Congress... it neither did any work which was in peoples interest nor fulfilled the promises made by it," Yadav was quoted as telling his partymen here in a party release. "Besides Congress, the BJP will also not come to power," Yadav told the cadres. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister asked cadres to focus on winning 60 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the forth coming elections, so as to ensure that no government is formed without its support.

Claiming that after succeeding in making a majority government of its own in Uttar Pradesh, the party's prestige has increased and people have high expectation from it.

Referring to the previous BSP regime, Yadav said the former chief minister did not meet anyone and the voices of people were unheard. With the formation of the SP government democracy has revived in UP, Yadav claimed. He said before going to the 2007 Assembly elections his government had kept Rs 24 thousand crores aside for generating power but the subsequent BSP government did not use it.

All the ministers will have to put up an impressive show in the next six months, Yadav said, adding that he would soon meet MLAs and ministers to give momentum to the functioning of the government.
