YS Vijayalakshmi reached the capital along with her delegation on Tuesday to garner support for the release of Jaganmohan Reddy. The delegation includes party's central committee member YV Subba Reddy, MLAs Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Shobha Nagi Reddy, MPs Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and Sabbam Hari.
According to Mekapati, the CBI was "deliberately trying to implicate Jagan" in the disproportionate assets case despite failing to gather evidence against him.
"The investigating agency has conspired with our rivals to see that Jagan remains behind the bars as long as possible and is not able to meet the people. The Congress and the Telugu Desam Party have colluded with each other in targeting Jagan, as they know there is no future for them if Jagan comes out of jail," said Mekapati.
YSR Congress has demanded that a judicial inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the functioning of the CBI be ordered by Prime Minister Singh into Jagan's case.
"Its joint director in Hyderabad, VV Lakshminarayana, is personally targeting Jagan. He has to change his style of functioning," said Mekapati.
Vijayalakshmi earlier wrote two letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention into the "political conspiracy" against her son. She had also written to the Central Vigilance Commission seeking their intervention against CBI joint director who Vijayalakshmi alleged was conspiring against her son along with a section of media.
Reports reveal Vijayalakshmi along with her delegation will also meet Sharad Pawar, Union Agriculture Minister, with whom they will share the plight of farmers in the state.
