92 Indian players thrown out of Swedish hotel,no food served
All players were shocked when they were told to check out and were forced to stay the night on roads. They were not served food, informed sources.
All ruckus started with a mistake by Umesh Bedi, the sub-agent who took care of all bookings for accommodation, travels and food. But the concerned travel agency - Akbar Travels of India from Mumbai broke all deals with Bedi as he failed to make full payment.
"We were promised that the amount would cover the entire tour, including local transport, food and accommodation," said Mr Satyanarayana, one of the devastated players.
"But after our matches on Thursday, we were asked to pay more for continuing the tour. We collected almost 1,000 Euro and paid, but were left on the road on Friday morning. We haven't eaten for nearly the whole day and do not know what will happen next. We were supposed to fly to Paris on Friday as per the itinerary," added Mr Satyanarayana.
The players were in the Swedish capital to participate in the 16th World Table Tennis Championship which began on Jun 25.
