Many people suspected that it was a case of human sacrifice but police have not confirmed the news yet. Meanwhile, the mother of the victim, Anitha revealed a shocking story saying that a "budubudike dasaiah" (fortune teller) might have kidnapped and killed her minor girl.
According to Anitha, a dasaiah had visited their house on Monday and was trying to get information about Harshitha but she asked him to leave the place as she was scared of him.
"...he asked me for her clothes, but I asked him to leave as I was scared. But he came again after a while and I saw him speaking to Harshitha, who was playing in front of the house. He was asking her name and other details. Meanwhile, my ten-month-old baby started crying and I went inside. When I came out after 10 minutes Harshitha and dasaiah were not seen," said Anitha.
Anitha also informed the police that an auto was standing near the house for a long time on Monday which indicted that it was a planned kidnap case.
Papanna, a local resident, was quoted as saying, "I strongly suspect some black magicians kidnapped and killed the girl. Amavasya (new moon day) fell on Monday and Tuesday. We are worried about other kids."
However, police rejected to comment on black magic. "The body was in a decomposed state and it is suspected that she might have been killed on Monday or Tuesday. We are working on some clues and the assailants would be caught soon," added police sources.
