Part of rocket launcher found on Chennai's Marina beach

Chennai, Jun 26: In what can be called a astonishing catch, part of a rocket launcher was found on the shores of the famous Marina Beach in Chennai. The cone-shaped object weighing close to 3 kg was retrieved near the light house area in the beach. Police officials from the Light House police station stated, "It was found just behind the Madras Light House campus and a few hundred metres away from the Light House Police Station."

There are also reports that the object was found by fishermen who were fishing in the sea and that the suspicious object was trapped in the nets. But the police have denied the claims stating that it was found on the sands. Further investigation is on to ascertain how the object surfaced in the Marina beach sands, opposite to the state police headquarters.

Initial reports suggest that the object seem to be the tip of a launch vehicle and shaped like a cone. Space department officials have been called to assist in the investigation.

The matter that Marina Beach lies in a strategically sensitive location and that there are forces both within and outside the country to wreak havoc through terrorism, only instills more fear among those in the wake of such news emerging.
