Bangalore, Jun 20: Controversial self-styled godman, Swami Nithyananda's Ashram located at Bidadi, Ramanagara district was unsealed after a week, on Tuesday, after Chief Minister, Karnataka, DV Sadananda Gowda ordered its closure.

The keys of the ashram were handed over to the Bidadi Ashram administration by the police officials and Ramanagara Revenue.

"Unsealing was done as per the DC (Deputy Commissioner) order. It (locking of Ashram) was not (no longer) needed," said Anupam Agarwal, Ramanagara Superintendent of Police.

Swami Nithyananda surrendered himself on Jun 13 after Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda ordered his arrest following a foreign national's complaint that she was sexually abused at his hands. He was granted bail on Jun 15.

Reports claim that police had recovered condoms, CDs and liquor during raids at his ashram.

Meanwhile, one of his devotees, a scientist by profession claimed that "he is a baby" and urged the police to spare him.

According to IGP Bhaskar Rao, in-charge of Nithyananda's security while he was lodged at the Mysore jail, said, "Another woman - a doctor - said Swami Nithyananda was their 'deity' and begged us to release him."

"There were highly qualified women and men including scientists, corporate honchos, doctors, techies and chartered accountants, who wanted to see their guru and were worried about his safety," he said.

Nithyananda, earlier shocked all with his statement that he was not a man.

"I'm not a man. There's no way I could have indulged in sexual activities with women. Do a potency test on me," he had said.
