Cong to announce stand on Telangana soon: AP minister

New Delhi, Jun 19: Andhra Pradesh Minister of Minor Irrigation TG Venkatesh hinted today that the state may be bifurcated sooner rather than later.

Averring that those who have been agitating for Telangana are not enemies of Seemandhra leaders, he told reporters here that Rayalaseema Hakkula Porata Vedhika is fighting for the cause of Rayalaseema, Samakynadhra and self respect.

Venkatesh warned that people of Rayalaseema will not take it lying down if the region's interests are sacrificed again. Though the Congress leadership has not taken any decision on Telangana till date, he claimed that the party will shortly announce its stand.

Noting that results of the Jun 12 bypolls have forced the Centre to take a pro-Telangana decision, Venkatesh however cautioned against any midnight decision on the issue.

He asserted that the TRS will merge with the Congress if a separate state is formed.
