Modi led Gujarat state government once again proved that their growth story has moved the people overseas. CLSA, which boasts of a solid international presence across financial powerhouses such as London, New York, San Francisco and Dubai, praised Gujarat and claimed that Modi "is running the state like a CEO".
One of the best strategist across Asia, Christopher Wood hailed Modi and his government in a report which was published in issue of 'GREED & fear'.
Wood identified Gujarat as among the top states that are developing due to pro-growth governments. He minced no words in arguing that there has been a great hype about Gujarat but a brief visit to the state will confirm that the praise is warranted.
Wood in his article also asserted that Modi Government has been viewed as both clean and highly efficient. The brilliant infrastructure of Gujarat also caught the attention of CLSA.
"Certainly, the roads in the former state capital Ahmedabad are wide and clear, while perhaps most impressive given India's current circumstances, Gujarat is the only state to enjoy a power surplus. It is also the only state with an integrated gas grid," opined Wood.
The 'GREED & fear' report also noted that as many as six automakers are either in or are planning to enter Gujarat.
It seems that Wood has not left any stone unturned. The strategist claimed, "There are many in India who would like to see the 61-year-old Modi as Prime Minister."
While praising Gujarat, Wood contrasted the state to the rest of the nation, which is ridden by gridlock in the power sector, shortage in coal and corruption scandals among other problems.
The word 'dysfunctional' also has been used to describe the functioning of the current Congress-led UPA. The description showed that Modi has been seen as a natural choice for larger national leadership by a large section of the Indian population.
However, this was not the first time when foreign organisations praised Modi. Earlier, a report by the USA Congressional Think Tank termed him as the 'King of Governance'.
The Gujarat CM also made history while appearing on the cover of TIME Magazine. The fantastic pace of growth and Modi's growing influence especially over the youngsters of the state has also been noticed by the Financial Times.
