Pattabhi Ramarao
Hyderabad, Jun 2: The CBI is all geared to arrest First Additional CBI Judge Pattabhi Ramarao for allegedly accepting a bribe from mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy in the Obalapuram illegal mining case. Unlike earlier reports that cited that Rs 5 crore bribe was offered, it has now emerged that the actual amount that changed hands was a whopping Rs 10 crore.

CBI sources stated that they may book the Judge’s son and others who is understood to have played a role in the case. They have also come to know that a retired judge and a history sheeter may have acted as the mediators in the underhand deal. The huge sum of money amounting to Rs 10 crore was brought to Karnataka from Bellary in two installments.

The CBI officials also seized Rs 1.60 crore from a bank locker in Ashoknagar area of Hyderabad. The deal was made such that a sum of Rs 3 crore would be paid before the bail order and Rs 7 crore after.

The tainted judge Ramarao had granted bail to Reddy on May 12. The bail was later stayed on the request of the CBI. CBI Court Principal Judge A Pullaiah has been given additional charge of the first additional CBI judge.
