Bangalore: Woman hacked to death in BTM Layout

Bangalore, May 29: A 23-year-old woman was hacked to death in BTM layout, Bangalore on Monday by bike-borne assailants.

Divya Shyama, the deceased, a resident of NS Palya, was killed in full public view in the evening.

The gory incident took place at 6.40 pm at 7th Cross, 7th main, 2nd stage, BTM layout, when Divya was walking towards her residence. She was attacked by two men, who slashed her neck several times with a machete before speeding away on their bike.

According to the police, the victim hailed from Saligrama, Kundapura, Udupi district and was a logistics co-ordinator by profession at the AstroMueller Pvt Ltd, a shoe company.

Divya was rushed to Sagar Apollo hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

"I was walking towards a bakery when I heard someone shouting. By the time I turned, I saw the miscreant fleeing in a motorcycle," said an eye-witness.

"We have definite clues about the assailants and will arrest them shortly," said PS Harsha, Deputy Commissioner of Police, southeast.

Police suspect it to be a case of spurned love story. Reports reveal that the girl had broken up with her ex-boyfriend and was in a relationship with another man named Pradeep.

A case of murder has been registered with the Mico Layout police station.
