DA case:Jagan's time up as anticipatory bail plea rejected?
There were widespread rumours that he will be arrested when he lands at the CBI office for questioning. Thursday saw the arrest of prominent Andhra Pradesh Excise Minister M Venkataramana, who was questioned for close to 7 hours. He later resigned from the AP Congress government due to the allegations. He has been remanded to five days in CBI custody.
Venkataramana allegedly violated rules to allot lands to industrialists when he was Infrastructure Minister during the YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime. The CBI also allege that the then CM Rajasekhar Reddy conspired with Ministers to help his son with huge investments in his flourishing business empire.
Incidents of violence were also reported from Venkataramana’s constituency in Repalle with his supporters attacking public buses. Jagan had also warned on Thursday that there might be a law and order situation in case he was arrested. In a television interview, Jagan had also claimed that certain people wanted him arrested before the by elections scheduled to be held on Jun 12.
