Mamata unleashes rage at CNN-IBN show;calls students Maoists

Mamata Banerjee
Kolkata, May 19: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is known for her fiery nature and devil-may-care attitude and this was displayed in the crudest form when she walked out of the interactive TV session organized by popular TV news channel, CNN-IBN. Mamata was enraged when she was asked questions on the cartoon controversy that led to the arrest of a Jadavpur University professor Ambikesh Mahapatra. In a fit of rage she also called the audience, mostly consisting of students, as Maoists and CPM cadre.

Mamata was also fuming when the audience raised questions on the increasing crimes perpetrated against women in the state.

Launching a tirade against the Jadavpur University professor, Mamata commented, "It is not a cartoon. We love the cartoon. Cartoon is a different thing. He is a CPM man. He misused the e-mail of his society people without their consent. He forwarded it to 60 people." She also trained her guns on the CPM and said that they were working hand-in-glove with the Maoists.

She added, "..The message in the cartoon which contained the word 'vanish' is a murder conspiracy and a plot supported by CPI(M). What he has done is a cyber crime. It is not a cartoon, it is a political conspiracy to murder me."

Mamata did not stop there, she even accused the students who were raising unpleasant questions and stated, "I know that Maoist people and CPM are putting up these questions". She particularly asked a girl student who asked a question if she was a Maoist and asked, "why students from outside Jadavpur University are not here".
