2G 'hero' Raja's felicitation witnesses minor scuffle

New Delhi, May 16: 2G scam accused and former Telecom Minister A Raja stepped out of the Tihar jail confines after the special CBI court granted him bail on Tuesday. He was welcomed by elated DMK supporters who gave him nothing short of a hero’s welcome. The happy occasion saw some unpleasant scenes when a minor scuffle broke out between supporters of A Raja and media personnel outside the MP's residence late night on Tuesday.

Raja’s release from jail after a gap of 15 months on Tuesday had grabbed media headlines with a large media crew gathered outside the Patiala house court. The scuffle, however, happened at Raja's Motilal Nehru Marg residence at around 9 pm. A function was organized there to felicitate the MP who was the last one to walk out of jail in the 2G spectrum scam.

As per reports, the scuffle sparked when Raja's supporters objected to the presence of media personnel at the venue. This led to arguments and landed up to become a full blown scuffle.

The court had in its bail order stated that Raja would need prior permission from court before travelling to Tamil Nadu.
