Mighty Yeddyurappa humbled; CBI files FIR against him, sons

BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, May 15: A day after former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa kept the state BJP administration on its toes over his resignation threat and pulling out his loyalists from the BJP government, he has received a huge setback. In a show-of-strength press conference on Monday he stated that neither he nor his loyalists were quitting and will stay put in the party for the time being. The CBI that is probing Yeddyurappa's involvement in the illegal mining case has registered an FIR against him on Tuesday.

Yeddyurappa was still reeling under the Supreme Court's decision of ordering a CBI probe against him in the mining case that caused a huge dent in the country's exchequer. The FIR filed by the CBI include those against his 2 sons and his son-in-law.

The Apex Court in its order last week had mentioned the "serious illegalities" in mining activities in which he allegedly "misused his public office" for illegal gains by unfairly extending favours to certain companies in which he had vested interests.
