Nepal plane crash: 13 Indians among 14 killed, 3 survive

Nepal, May 14: Thirteen Indians were among the 14 killed in a plane crash plane that took place at the Jomsom Airport in Mustang district of Nepal, while it was trying to land today morning.

The plane carrying 21 people onboard crashed into the mountainous northern region of Nepal at 9:45 AM (NPT).

Reports reveal that that Pilot of the plane, PS Pathak and co-pilot SD Maharjan died on the spot. (Read more: Nepal Plane Crash: Helpline numbers)

According to Laxmi Raj Sharma, Chief Government Administrator, Mustang, the crash survivors were flown down to a local hospital for treatment.

"The crash happened 1.5 hours back. There were 18 passengers and three crew members on board. A rescue team has been sent. There are no details on the condition of the passengers," said Pramod Pandey.

Three survivors have been confirmed in the crash. The plane belongs to a local airline company Agni Air.

Meanwhile, police and soldiers have been rushed to the crash site.

"I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic air crash that occurred earlier this morning near Jomsom airport in Nepal. I would like to convey my deep condolences to the families of all those who have lost their lives in this accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all those who have lost their near and dear ones. I hope that the Almighty will grant them strength to bear their loss with fortitude," said External Affairs minister SM Krishna.
