Not keen on joining politics, Rajya Sabha: Aamir Khan

Mumbai, May 7: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan claimed that he is not keen on joining politics and being a member of Rajya Sabha. The actor's statement clearly shows that his opinion differs from cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin has been nominated for Rajya Sabha, hence the master-blaster marked his entry into politics after accepting Congress' proposal. Earlier, Amir had appreciated Congress-led UPA government's decision for nominating Sachin for the Rajya Sabha seat.

However, the actor expressed a different opinion when he was asked if he would accept the offer of the Rajya Sabha if he ever be approached. Amir, who is known as a perfectionist of the Bollywood, replied, "First of all, the offer is not there. I feel I am happy wherever I am today and whatever work I want to do, I am doing that through my field... profession."

The 47-year-old actor also claimed, "And I feel I would be able to contribute more to the society through my field. I feel if I go somewhere else, I doubt if I could do that much contribution to the society."

Amir's statement contradicts with Sachin's decision of entering into the world of politics. Tendulkar's foray into the political world has been received with great applause from various political circles after President Pratibha Patil approved the cricketer's nomination to the Rajya Sabha on Apr 26.
