Maoists release abducted Chhattisgarh collector after13 days

Raipur, May 3: The long wait of continuous thirteen days is over. The Maoists finally released the abducted Sukma collector on Thursday, May 3. The IPS officer Alex Paul Menon has been handed over to the interlocutors, informed sources.

Menon's family members started distributing sweets and are waiting for him anxiously in Chennai. Meanwhile, TV reports informed that the helicopter, which will take Menon to Sukma, has reached Chhattisgarh.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Maoists announced that they would release the collector. The ultras handed over Menon to the two mediators - BD Sharma and Professor G Hargopal. The collector was abducted on Apr 21 from Sukma district.
