Chennai, Apr 29: Union Defence Minister AK Antony met with Former Tamil Nadu CM

in Chennai, to discuss for the upcoming Presidential polls. Antony has reportedly told Karunanidhi that Vice President

is one of the UPA's choices.

According to reports, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader TR Balu, Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi and her mother Rajathimal also accompanied Karunanidhi in the meeting.

Neither Congress nor UPA can elect its own candidate for the presidential polls, so they have to depend on their alliances for the polls.

On Wednesday, Apr 25, Congress held a meeting with another key alliance Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar.

Meanwhile, DMK consists of 18 Lok Sabha MPs, 7 Rajya Sabha MPs and 23 MLAs, but still, the party has not disclosed its choice.

"It (the election) cannot be an affair of one or two major parties. The next President should be a person of national consensus. Given the current challenges facing the nation, the post should be filled up on the basis of consensus in the broadest possible spectrum," said Left Parties.
