New Delhi, Apr 28: Pressure on the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is increasing day by day as most of the opposition party leaders also joined Subramanian Swamy's group demanding his (Chidambaram's) resignation. Now, everyone started speculating - will the home minister finally succumb to the pressure created by Swamy and other opposition leaders?

Parliament affairs on Friday, Apr 27 were disrupted following ruckus in the House. BJP senior leader Yashwant Sinha claimed that Congress should dismiss the home minister immediately from his service.

"Chidambaram has indulged in massive corruption. He should be dismissed as home minister immediately," said Mr Sinha.

The entire hullabaloo was created following a fresh allegation against Chidambaram by the Janata Party supremo. Subramanian Swamy recently stated that the Home Minister had helped his son Karti in making a huge profit out of the controversial Aircel-Maxis deal in 2006.

According to Swamy, Maxis company officials in 2005 had approached the telecom company Aircel which was verging on bankruptcy. Maxis had offered to buy 74 per cent stake in Aircel for nearly 4,000 crore. However, this deal needed permission from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board.

Clarifying his stand over accusing Chidambaram and his son regarding this deal, Swamy claimed, "But this permission - Chidambaram delayed it because he wanted a cut - this is my allegation."

During a press conference, Swamy alleged that Ausbridge Holdings and Investments Pvt Ltd, in which Karti Chidambaram is a 94 per cent equity holder, had invested and had majority of shares in Advantage Strategic Consulting Private Limited of Aircel before the Maxis-Aircel Deal was sanctioned by the then Finance Minister. Swamy asserted that after the deal went through, Karti Chidambaram had made a huge amount of money, though he (Swamy) did not specify the exact amount of money.

However, Karti Chidambaram has already dragged Swamy to the court after taking legal action against the Janata Party chief.
