After Sachin, Ganguly also to be nominated for Rajya Sabha?

New Delhi, Apr 27: With the news that Sachin Tendulkar is being nominated for Rajya Sabha seat, many people started asking - why Sourav Ganguly was not given the same offer when he (Ganguly) was in his best form as a cricketer. CPI(M) leader and MP Gurudas Dasgupta was one among the people who raised voice for Sourav who is also well-known as - Dada.

Sourav's fan already have begun speculating that dada might also be recommended or nominated for Rajya Sabha seat, especially at the time when he once again has proved his quality of leadership as the captain of Pune Warriors in IPL 5.

Sourav is being considered as one of the best captains of Team India and dada's fans are confident enough that he can accomplish his task if he is being nominated as MP.

Mr Dasgupta, while praising Sachin and showing concern for Sourav, said, "Sachin's nomination is a real recognization of sports talent. Saurav Ganguly could also have been considered when he was in his top form."

However, Mr Dasgupta also claimed that India should consider sportspersons from other games and should not concentrate only on cricketers. "It should not be highlighted that they are patronizing cricket (alone)," claimed Mr Dasgupta.

However, Master-Blaster Tendulkar's foray into the political world has been received with great applause from various political circles after President Pratibha Patil approved the cricketer's nomination to the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Apr 26.
