Apollo Group sets up branch in Jammu Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 22: Private health care has been introduced in the Kashmir valley with the Apollo Group of Hospitals becoming the first major private health care institution of the country to set up a branch here.

The Apollo group started its clinic in Karan Nagar area of the city equipped with high quality medicare facilities. The clinic was inaugurated yesterday by Minister of state for Health Javid Ahmad Dar in presence of top medical practitioners from the valley.

Dar said it will open a new chapter in medical history of the state to attract more reputed hospital groups to function in the Valley, which is in dire need of expanding its medicare facilities through the private sector as well.

"We will keenly watch the functioning of the Apollo clinic so that with its success more and more chains of hospitals not only establish their clinics but also play a vital role in establishing more and more hospitals", Dar said.

The minister said that presently all medical facilities in the state are being provided only through the public sector but with the new innovations carried out in medical science, the private sector can play a significant role in providing health care.
