Kolkata, Apr 18: Mamata Banerjee may land in a legal trouble following a case lodged against her party - Trinamool Congress. The party members of the West Bengal Chief Minister are accused of molesting a woman and beating up her family members for refusing to join the party.

The victim, failed to bear the insult and humiliation brought to her and to her family members, tried to commit suicide after consuming poison. The incident took place on Apr 15 at Kaniadighi near Contai, about 150 km from Kolkata. However, the son of the victim lodged the complaint on Tuesday, Apr 17.

While informing about the incident, police officials said, "We have received a complaint by Toton Das, who has alleged that his mother was molested by a group of people who also assaulted his other family members for refusal to join the Trinamool Congress. The woman later attempted suicide by consuming poison."

Meanwhile, the complainant showed his rage against the cops saying, "It has been more than 24 hours since I made the complaint but there has been no action. Those who assaulted my family are roaming freely while my father had to flee the village."

Trinamool Congress party workers allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from victim who is a supporter of CPI(M). "A group of people asked me to gather all the women of the village for a Trinamool Congress meeting. When I refused, they assaulted me and my family and tore away my clothes," said the victim.
