Won't tolerate loot in the name of great men: SP to Mayawati
"There had been massive irregularities carried out concerning land and other assets in the name of great men and ideologues and they would definitely be probed," PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said at a function held on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti here.
He said, "The SP government does not intend to show disrespect to the memory of these great men and they would be respected and honoured as before but the government would not tolerate loot in their names."
Earlier in the day, Mayawati had warned the SP government that any move to make changes in the memorials erected during her regime could create law and order problem.
"The SP government should not indulge in any act which could create a problem in the country and their government could also face serious problem," she had said.
The PWD minister had yesterday removed 48 senior officers of Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, looking after various memorials and parks set up in Lucknow and Noida during BSP regime.
The minister had also announced probe in large scale irregularities that took place during the constructions of these memorials.
