New Delhi, Apr 14: Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav, on Saturday, Apr 14, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss his policies and programme for the development of the state.

Akhilesh told reporters that he maintained a cordial relationship with Mr Singh. "We have not demanded any package for the state. It was a good meeting with the Prime Minister. A host of issues related to Uttar Pradesh including MNREGA, roads, problems related to coal shortage, the Kumbh Mela to be held soon and the Ganga cleaning project were discussed," he said.

"The Prime Minister has assured us that funds will be sent for all the schemes being implemented in the state," Akhilesh said before adding, "Centre should grant these funds, only then will the development work reach the people. If UP moves on the path of progress, then the country will move on that path too."

Responding to the disgraceful acts of Samajwadi party leaders, he said, “Maintaining law and order is a priority in UP and action will be taken against those who violate the law."

Earlier this month, Akhilesh was unable to meet PM as the latter was busy with BRICS summit.
