New video surfaces of Osama's wives, children in Pak jail
The widows have been charged under Pakistani laws for illegally staying in the country and were ordered to serve a jail sentence for 45 days. The footage was obtained by Al Arabiya television as reported by The Telegraph. The video shows the strong security surrounding the kin of Laden.
The video shows the boy playing merrily with a cricket bat, while the wives hover in the background. One wife is seen offering prayers and read from the Quran. Another one is seen feeding a toddler.
The women and children have been under Pakistani custody since Osama bin Laden was captured and later killed by US Navy Seals in a covert operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan where he was secretly living. He was killed in May last year.
The Pakistani authorities hope to ascertain vital clues on who helped the family evade capture for such a long time. The Telegraph also added that Pakistan had sought assurances from the widows’ home countries of Yemen and Saudi Arabia that they will be kept away from public view.
