Narendra Modi
Ahmedabad, Apr 10: A court in Ahmedabad gave a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over Gulbarg massacre and Godhra riots case. The court on Tuesday, Apr 10 claimed that Special Investigation Team (SIT) did not find any proof which can implicate Modi and 61 other accused persons in the case.

Modi and 61 other government officials were accused of conspiring the Godhra riots cases. However, the court also stated that the petitioner Zakia Jafri will get the SIT within one month. Zakia Jafri is the widow of former Congress MP Ehsaan Jafri who along with 69 other people were allegedly burnt alive by a riotous mob.

The Supreme Court had earlier ordered the SIT to probe the allegation made by Zakia on the Gulbarg Society massacre that saw the death of 67 people. She had stated that there was a larger conspiracy behind the attacks.

The probe agency headed by former CBI chief RK Raghavan could not find any evidence on this to make Modi and others culpable.

It must be a major setback for Teesta Setalvad, a co-petitioner of the case. Earlier the investigative agency SIT had opposed to handing over the report to Teesta and lawyer Mukul Sinha saying, "They (the activists) have 'no locus in the case'."
