Akhilesh Yadav
Lucknow, Apr 10: In a bid to revamp the system and showcase a rosy image of him in UP, young gun and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has done the impossible by transferring as many as 1000 officers in the 24 days he took charge as the CM. Most of the transferred officers are top ranking bureaucrats who were considered former CM Mayawati’s loyalists.

The move has apparently resulted in utter chaos in the state machinery. Akhilesh’s determination to take on "unprecedented organised corruption" in the Mayawati regime has shook the machinery to a considerable level.

The initial days of his regime saw minor changes, that later graduated to major posts among the IAS and IPS cadres shifted. Recent reports, however, reveal that as many as 1,000 officials from the police and administrative services have been moved around based on their loyalty.

Even when Akhilesh promises to end crime and violence in the state, his own party workers form the Samajwadi party is engaging in violence leading to many predicting that this shows a ‘back to goondaraj’ phenomenon in UP. In a move to better connect with the people of UP, Akhilesh has thrown open the doors of the CM’s residence, 5 Kalidas Marg in Lucknow to the public that will see a revival of the tradition of weekly CM's janta darshan - every Wednesday from Apr 18.
