New Delhi, Apr 8: President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh finally met on Sunday, Apr 8 at his (PM's) residence in 7RCR in New Delhi. However, UPA chairperson and Congress president, Sonia Gandhi skipped the lunch organised for Zardari and his 40-member delegation and many Indian politicians.

Sonia Gandhi along with Rahul Gandhi and senior BJP leader LK Advani, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj were expected to attend the lunch but the Congress president restrained herself to attend the meeting at the last moment.

Reasons behind Sonia's decision has not been clarified by the party. Zardari, who is all set to visit Ajmer Sharif on Sunday, reached India late by one hour which caused inconvenience for the meetings which were scheduled between the Pakistan president and Indian politicos.

After their meeting at the 7RCR, Manmohan Singh and Zardari held a joint press conference where Zardari claimed that the bilateral talk between the duo was "fruitful" and he also informed that both of them may meet soon on the soil of Pakistan.
