YSR's name misused by actress Tara held in prostitution row
The police sought a seven day custody of Tara Chowdhary and her live-in partner Ratineni Durga Prasad to unearth more dirty facts on the incident that has shamed the television industry.
The Additional public prosecutor Lakshman Rao submitted to IIIrd additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM) that this was not a simple case of prostitution. He added that the accused was also blackmailing her victims and customers for her benefit. The prosecution stated that her custody was needed in lieu of the evidence recovered from her house and for the purpose of identifying those involved in the racket.
Counsel for Tara Chowdhary, K Srinivas said that his client was being implicated in the case. He added, "She gave a large sum of money to one Chinni Krishna sometime ago. As he didn’t return the money, she lodged a complaint against him. The police tried to settle the case by asking her to strike a compromise with Chinni Krishna. As she refused, they implicated her in the case."
The actress was arrested based on a complaint filed by a 20 year old sales woman from Visakhapatnam who claimed that she was forced into prostitution by Tara in the pretext of promise of a job.
A thorough check in her residence by the police saw them recovering five cellphones, a photograph of she handing over a bouquet to YS Rajasekhar Reddy, PAN cards, a box of condoms and two sets of Home Guard applications. She was staying in the posh Banjara Hills area at Navodaya Colony along with her partner and was running a brothel secretly.
