New Delhi, Apr 4: Defence Minister AK Antony once again faced an acid test following an Indian Army spook, report published by the national daily - Indian Express on Wednesday, Apr 4.

The daily shocked and shook the government, Indian Army and people of the nation with its exclusive report saying that two key units of Indian Army moved towards Delhi without notifying the government on Jan 16-17 nights in 2012.

Reacting on the issue, both Defence Ministry and Army termed the report "baseless and exaggerated." Antony, who was in Visakhapatnam, Orissa for inaugurating INS Chakra (nuclear submarine), briefed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi about the report published in the newspaper.

"Don't question the patriotism of the Indian Army, do not question the patriotism of the soldiers dying for service of the nation," said Antony while expressing his reaction against the "sensationalise" report.

Meanwhile, Manmohan Singh also reacted saying, "The Defence Ministry has already clarified its position. These are alarmist reports and should not be taken at face value."

The Defence Ministry claimed, "The points raised in the report have already been clarified by the Army...such exercises are conducted by the Army from time to time."
