New Delhi, Apr 3: With the 8 pm deadline inching closer, it is to see if Vijay Mallya will stick to his promise to pay the Kingfisher employees their salaries or if the staff will go ahead with the proposed strike.

Earlier, Mallya had promised his employees that they would be paid their salaries before Apr 4.

"We are not currently in a mental state to undertake any duties and doing so would jeopardise the safety of our aircraft and more so ever our valuable guests," an email on behalf of employees said.

According to the employees, they felt "cheated and deceived" as Mallya had promised the staff their salaries in the past too. The employees have demanded that their salaries for Mar 2012 must be paid by Apr 20.

Meanwhile, the Kingfisher staff on Monday, urged the players to boycott IPL, so that they will be paid their salaries. (Read More: Mallya threatens to shutdown KFA)

"The meeting went on till late in the night. If the employees’ demand isn’t met within the deadline, 350 Kingfisher Airline engineers across the country are threatening to go on strike and nearly 30 Mumbai-based pilots may follow suit," said reports after Mallya held a meeting with the staff and pilots at his residence.
