Journo assaulted by MLA for taking napping pics in assembly
After receiving a complaint from the Indian Journalist union, Press Council of India (PCI) chief Markandey Katju on Monday, Apr 2 asked the state Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope over the disgrace act of the MLA so that action can be taken against him.
"It is alleged that a photo journalist, Walton Hilton, was attacked by MLA Founder Strong Cajee because he had taken a photograph of him in the Assembly. As a result of this attack, the photographer had to be hospitalised in Shillong," said Katju.
If the complaint filed by the journalist was true, then MLA has violated the freedom of Press, guaranteed under Article 19 (1) (a) of the Constitution, he added.
In 2011, Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav were also caught napping during the crucial meetings.
