April Fools prank
Bangalore, Apr 2: April Fools Day is celebrated with great gusto all over the world on Apr 1. But the April Fool's Day, this year, in Bangalore was different and managed to fool a record of 6000 people in one shot. The prank pulled off by a FM channel in Bangalore announced that top Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif will be landing atop the Nandi Hills on a helicopter to inaugurate the hilltop studio of the FM channel.

The Sunday prank created quite a buzz amongst the common people who were ready to go to any extent to catch a glimpse of the Bollywood sirens. The Nandi Hills is located 54 km from Bangalore near the outskirts in Chikkaballapur. The 6000 people strong crowd comprised of families, college students, software engineers, couples and even villagers from nearby Chikkaballapur and Sidlagatta located close to the Nandi Hills.

Not realizing that they were being fooled, they gathered with great difficulty in the popular tourist destination. The only beneficiary according to reports was the Horticulture department who raised Rs 70,000 in just three hours as entry and parking of vehicles for the 'star-studded event'.

Eagerly awaiting the stars of the silver screen, fans gathered atop the Nandi Hills as early as 3am, waiting near the gates in their vehicles. The Horticulture Department who manages the area was surprised to see the large crowd gathered this early. The gates open at around 6am. The shock came when the department officials stated that no plans existed of stars descending atop the Nandi Hills.

On an average Sunday, the Nandi Hills see close to 4000 visitors, with the numbers much less on week days. With the news of the stars coming to the Hills spreading, there was traffic chaos and the police trying hard to manage the mob.

Special Horticulture Officer at Nandi Hills said that special permission was needed from the government to organise any such function in the Nandi Hills. He added, "In fact, we started getting inquiries about film stars landing here, since Saturday evening. We also checked with the police, but they too had no such information. It was only after talking to the crowd today, we realized it was a prank."
