New York, Mar 30: The Slain Al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden's youngest wife Amal Ahmad Abdul Fateh has revealed to Pakistani investigators that after the 9/11 attacks, Laden lived in five safe houses in Pakistan along with his family.

US Navy SEAL commandos killed Laden last year in Pakistan's Abbottabad. Fateh told investigators that she married Osama in 2000 and reached Karachi. Later, she crossed into Afghanistan to live with Laden and his wives in the outskirts of Kandahar.

"The September 11 attacks caused the Bin Laden family to scatter," as reported by the New York Times.

In 2002, the Americans were searching Laden as Qaeda groups had attacked a hotel in Kenya and nightclubs in Indonesia.

At that time, Laden took his family into rural mountain areas of northwest Pakistan, about eight to nine months, the family stayed in two different houses in the Shangla district in Swat. Later, the family shifted to Haripur in 2003, stayed in a rented house for two years. They moved to Abbottabad in the mid-2005, Fateh revealed. The houses in Haripur, Abbottabad and Swat were organised by their Pashtun hosts, she added.
