Bangalore, Mar 29: Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy might be feeling very embarrassed at the moment when his father and former Prime Minister of India - Deve Gowda overruled his (HDK's) shocking statement in public.

The former Prime Minister on Thursday, Mar 29 claimed that no middleman had approached him offering bribe over some defence deal. "When nobody approached me why should I talk of any middleman, frontman, broker, whatever," replied Deve Gowda when he was asked to comment on his son's shocking revelation. Kumaraswamy on the same day claimed that a "middleman" had met the father-son duo and offered a bribe to get special favour regarding some defence deal from the then PM. Gowda was the Prime Minister of India between June 1996 and April 1997.

However, HDK denied revealing the middleman, who according to the former Karnataka CM, had offered the bribe. HDK claimed that Indian Army Chief VK Singh's open statements inspired him (HDK) to conceal the old fact.

Mr Singh, the talk of the town, recently accused a former general of offering him Rs 14 crore bribe to buy cheap-quality vehicles for Indian army. General Singh's sparked a new controversy in the country and also brought many unseen facts in the limelight.
