Reports have emerged that there is the existence of a tape that will be considered crucial evidence in the murky scandal. According to a former Army officer the tape has the voice of a man who says, "army chiefs before VK Singh have accepted money".

Colonel (Retired) RSN Singh who is believed to have heard the tape says, "the gentleman is heard offering bribe and telling the Chief that chiefs before you have taken bribes and chiefs after you will take bribes. So why don't you fall in line".

The Colonel added that the agitated Army Chief says, "And then I'm told that General VK Singh can be heard shouting on this fellow that you get out of my office before I do something else to you."

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who is probing the matter have access to the extremely sensitive tape. The agency have been appointed to look into the case following the instructions of Defence Minister AK Antony.

Clarifying the case in the floor of the Rajya Sabha, Antony stated, "This happened more than one year ago. That is my memory. Exact date they (army officials) know because no one can meet the Army Chief without any appointment." Antony stated that the Army Chief had told him that retired General Tejinder Singh met him and offered Rs 14 crore bribe. Antony further added, "I was shocked... It took me one to two minutes to regain my composure. Then I told him to take action but he told me 'I do not want to pursue it'. I don't know why he did not want to pursue it at that time."

With the incident shocking people across the country, Antony assured that strict action will be taken on the accused irrespective of how powerful they are.
