West Bengal
Kolkata, Mar 25: West Bengal Tourism Minister Rachpal Singh had a close save on Sunday, Mar 25 after CPI-M workers allegedly attacked his car while he was going for a programme in Hooghly's Haripal, about 50 km from Kolkata.

"I was on my way to attend a function in Haripal when some people came to me and complained that they were needlessly baton charged by the police. I assured them that I will talk to the police officials and enquire about it when suddenly some stones were thrown at my car," Singh said after the incident.

However, Singh claimed that he was unaware as to the reason for the baton charge.

Trinamool Congress accused Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) supporters of creating ruckus. Meanwhile, Singh has ordered an investigation into the matter.
