UPA government is insensitive: Anna Hazare

New Delhi, Mar 25: Anti-corruption crusader Anna on Sunday, Mar 25, said the Congress-led UPA government is insensitive towards the people of our nation and not rendering any support to the whistleblowers who are fighting for the nation.

Anna has slammed the government for being silent even after the death of 25 whistleblowers.

On Sunday, Mar 25, Anna will hold a token one day fast at Jantar Mantar from 11am to 5pm, demanding for the protection of whistleblowers.

The 74-year-old Gandhian resumes his campaign to protest against the death of Madhya Pradesh IPS officer Narendra Kumar, who was killed by suspected mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh. While Narendra Kumar's kins are likely to participate the fast in New Delhi.

Due to the poor health, Anna called off his three-day fast in Mumbai last year.

"We have been preparing for the last ten days. We have been sending out SMSes, distributing pamphlets and doing street plays in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region). We are focusing on the youth and street plays and interactive sessions are are being conducted in Delhi University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)," said an official of Team Anna.

More than 1,000 police personnel will be deployed at Jantar Mantar for his protest, a senior police officer claimed.

"The organisers have confirmed the presence of the father of IPS officer Narendra Kumar who was killed in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh while intercepting a tractor-trolley carrying illegally-mined stones," said Seju Kuruvilla, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police.

"We have told them that the crowd should not be more than 1,000 people. Around 10 metal detectors will be placed at three entry points with 1,000 police personnel to avoid any untoward incident," he added.
