Yeddy responsible for BJP defeat in Udupi-Chikmagalur bypoll

BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Mar 21: Former Karnataka CM, BS Yeddyurappa will be a happy man now and will find more strength in his demand to get the Chief Ministership in spite of the BJP's dismal defeat in the Udupi-Chikmagalur by polls. After Yeddyurappa decided to rock the Karnataka BJP boat that send waves to the High Command in the Centre, if this loss can be attributed to Yeddyurappa's refusal to campaign in the bypolls is worth asking.

The fact that the K Jayaprakash Hegde of Congress defeated V Sunil Kumar of BJP by massive margin of over 40,000 votes in the bypoll is a major embarrassment to the already hurt BJP in the state. [Read: BJP blinks; Yeddyurappa to be made CM in 24 hours?]

This new development will strengthen Yeddyurappa's case considerably, especially at a time when he was understood to have softened his stand with the party bosses in Delhi. Yeddyurappa, on Tuesday, had refused to visit Delhi after he was summoned by the BJP High Command. In a change of stance, Yeddyurappa has decided to travel to Delhi and will also attend the Budget session in Assembly. He and his team of loyalists had earlier refused to attend the state budget presentation.
